Why we need to care about inclusive design even in internal tools. A guide to ARIA labels and contrast ratios.

Accessibility isn’t a “nice to have”. It’s how you make software usable in the real world, including for yourself on a bad day.

Start with basics

  • Labels connected to inputs
  • Logical tab order
  • Visible focus states
  • Sufficient color contrast

ARIA is not a shortcut

Use native elements first. Add ARIA when you truly need custom behavior, and test with keyboard navigation.
